Technology just gets better and better right? But sometimes at a cost…
I miss the drive in. Not really, I’m too young, but I wish it were still around because I would love to go to one. The advent of Stereo sound, Dolby 5.1 and THX have made cinema more immersive and powerful, but they also sounded the death knoll for drive in movies. Afterall who would relegate themselves to tinny mono sound on one side of the car, and an image a hundred feet away through your dirty windshield? Yet, the drive in was a different experience - social & friendly. You could even TALK to the person next to you. Crazy. I love new cinemas, I love comfy seats, deep bass, dynamic sound and no mobile phones. Sometimes though, old tech can still give us a good time because it is based on people rather than tech.
Other tech I miss:
Trivial Pursuit old skool: none of this DVD nonsense.
Mixtapes: MP3 Playlists? Rubbish. Mixtapes said it all.
Got any others….?

Reportwhen i was a young man, i spent a little time in canada. i really wanted to visit a drive in too. I was amazed to find that they had small fm transmitters in those ‘pods’ and you just tuned your radio into them to get top notch sound.
Stuff i miss, well i do prefer the quality of the new sound systems but my old record player had an amazing smell as the valves warmed up and i do miss that.

Although dvd’s are great they have a couple of bugs. You can’t leave it cued up to take round a friends house and every time you re start it you have sit through 10 mins of warnings and trailers!
