Using GPS To Draw Biggest Picture In The World

12.gif

Artist Erik Nordenankar has drawn a huge self-portrait using the power of Global Positioning Satellites. He put a GPS tracker into a flightcase with an extended battery and got DHL to ship it to specific locations.

When he got it home, 55 days later, he downloaded the data of where it had been and plotted it on a map to ‘draw’ the portrait.

Great advert for DHL who did the transportation to very specific lattitudes and longitudes…

for video …

Seems it was all a hoax after all

Interesting blog post about it below, asking questions about the damage, if any, it’s done to the DHL brand.

Not clear DHL had anything to do with it and in the end I can’t imagine too many people outside the marketing blog community saw it, so I think the DHL brand will live to fight another day. Whether or not DHL see it that way is another matter. See in you in court Erik

Very interesting indeed. I find it annoying it was a hoax though. I guess I can’t expect much of the internet though.. :P
