The River of News

I love the way Seattle-based Common Craft use storytelling, paper cut-outs and child-like animation to simplify the complex and entertain. This is their first foray into online video advertising and was made for PRWeb - a company specialising in buzz marketing using blogs and social media.

Common Craft have a neat way of explaining what they do: “Our Product is Explanation”. They describe themselves as “interpreters”. The one they did about zombies, ‘Zombies in Plain English’, is highly informative and will save you days of watching zombie movies. It could save your life. Most of their output to date has been about explaining big Web 2.0 concepts, for example, ‘Social Networking in Plain English‘. Now, they appear to be turning their skills towards more commercial ends and given the deluge of witless video rubbish out there I would bet on them being very successful. That’s meant to be a compliment.
