Powerful broadband storytelling

I watched the unfolding story of Benazir Bhutto’s assassination on BBC News 24 yesterday. For several hours.

Benazir Bhutto’s assassination - a slideshow at the NY Times

This audio slideshow at the New York Times tells the story of what happened in a very much more powerful way using a handful of photos and a single journalist’s voice. It’s not breaking news, but it’s taken 12 hours or less to get this out and as I saw some of the Getty images it uses yesterday on the BBC it’s likely that it could have been published very soon after the audio report was filed. There’s a very real-time feel to it.
