A decent mp3 player doesn’t just depend on the hardware. Having simple and easy access to good content is a big part of it too … that’s why the iTunes music store was the true genius behind the success of the iPod.

So who’s the new kid on the block giving Apple a run for their money … Microsoft, Sony? How about Tesco?

Supermarkets might not be at the top of your list when it comes to technology innovators, but surprisingly they do drive a number of digital innovations.

www.tescodigital.com comes a close second to the iTunes music store. It’s slick and well laid out, to be honest the only real problem with it is that you won’t find all your music there … yet.

Tesco will be adding more tracks and there’s a promise of films and games to come soon, so this might just turn it into the mythical iPod killer.
