Google are due to launch their very own web browser today. Yes, you heard right, a Google Web browser.
The Browser Battle just got a lot more interesting. To add the wide selection of browsers, Google is stepping into the fray today. It says its browser is designed for apps whereas others were designed for “just web pages” when people didn’t watch videos or play games or chat with each other. You can read Google’s steer on the browser side of life in their comic book introduction to Chrome. Or for the short version visit Google Blogoscoped.
As our computing tasks migrate away from hardware and into the cloud, our browsers have become the single most important application on our computers. It’s not hard to foresee a computer which simply boots up as a browser and nothing else (if it doesn’t already exist). Perhaps Google’s Chrome is just another step in this direction.
As yet Chrome is still not live - or at least the link is dead. We’ll keep you up to speed on its progress.
UPDATE 02.09.08 20:08 - CHROME IS NOW AVAILABLE FOR DOWNLOAD.

ReportThis sounds great. Seems obvious a browser should be created from the ground up now the web has changed so much. I definitely want Chrome. Great description of a very technical subject too - love the comic book approach.
